This is an initial impression only.Essential time-saver with Solidworks. Works with Photoshop too. Haven't tried other apps, but Adobe pdf was listed.Had to download an updated driver set (100+MB!). Software installation is not as slick as some programs, but worked fine, and you can uncheck boxes for any software you don't have.Note: I thought the unit was defective, but initially the blue LED is off giving the appearance the unit is dead. The options menu says it's on, but it's not. Just cycle the option to turn it on. The instructions say to plug it in before you turn on your computer and maybe this is why the blue LED was not on.After setup it worked fine with SolidWorks Student Edition and Photoshop CS3. Haven't tried anything else. Side button design is a bit awkward. Note that this does not substitute for a mouse, and thus does nothing in Windows or Office.

This might be the one product on tigerdirect that I can't live without at work. If you work on 3D cad (inventor, solidworks, etc.), a product like this is a necessity. It is kinda like keyless entry, once you have it you can't go back. It is real heavy, solidly built and takes a beating. I am buying one for home too. If it slides around, just tape the bottom to your desk. It's great for google earth too.The only drawbacks would be some quirky motion in certain cad programs (autocad), and the fact that you can't use the device in any games. Most of the issues you can tweak using the interface software, which i have yet to figure out. Note that you are supposed to buy the more expensive one if you're using it for commercial reasons.

I absolutely love this thing. I bought it here at Tiger on a whim after seeing it on the right side when I was looking for something else. I saw the reviews and the good price, and bought it. It was probably the best purchase I've made in the last 6 months. It has increased productivity so much. took about a day to get used to. It was so easy to integrate it into my everyday work flow. I can really see now why people say they now can't go without it. It works with a whole range of programs, and as a student, that really helps. I'm thinking of upgrading to the SpacePilot because of the extra programmable buttons. I feel I could be even faster if I don't need to move my hand from 3d mouse to keyboard every now and then.

Great Product! I do animating in 3DS MAX (for college) and this is a life saver. Saves me time and effort and makes navigating the 3D space much easier and much more natural. I would expect a much higher price tag on this product than what it has. It is very solidly built and weighs as much as a nice paperweight. I have not run into any issues of it sliding around the desk but you could use double sided tape if you really want it to not move. It took my only about 5 minutes to really get used to it and ever since I use it everyday. A must-have for anybody into 3D modelling. You won't regret it.

Very nice little gadget! It takes some time getting used to, and you have to take a little time to tweak it for your different applications but its worth it. Take note that this controller is not for games and you should check the supported applications list on the official website. You will never want to get back to using the mouse for navigation and visualisation after using this!Small, very small con : when you push the controller to its full range of motion, it sometimes slides on the desk. A little bit of double sided tape fixed this quickly for me.

Really Cool product! i just ordered it from Tigerdirect and have used it for about a week, mainly in Solidworks. It works great, makes like instantly easier, and much more fun even if im working. all the fellow engineers at my job want one now. the amount of time it saves in a week will easily pay for itself. The only con is it has 2 programable buttons. but for the price, $49.99, you cant go wrong.

My dog ate the cord of my first SpaceNavigator so here I am buying another one. That speaks for something. If you use ANY kind of real 3D program then this thing is totally worth your money and will pay for itself in the amount of Tylenol that you won't be taking during the work week.

Great little device if you do any 3d work. It'd be nice if more software was compatible with it. Check out the forums on the 3dconnexion website though, somebody wrote an ''unofficial'' set of drivers for this device that makes it work with more programs.
