This video camera is lightweight and easy to use.

This camera is awesome. My favorite feature is that you can plug it into your computer and it charges and downloads videos at the same time (like your IPod). Video quality is very good, sound is good. It takes some getting used to the fact that there is no real zoom, however, it is a very good value for your money.

The Flip Ultra HD is a great pocket camcorder, especially for the price ([$]). I compared it with similar pocket camcorders such as the Kodak Zi*, etc.. My first use of the Flip Ultra HD was travel to the Northwest (Seattle). If you have been to Seattle in the Winter, you know that the days can be overcast and rainy. Even on the most overcast, rainy days, the Flip Ultra HD produced great HD video and very good sound. The Ultra is extremely easy to use right out of the box. The controls are simple, the features, although not many, are more than adequate for the casual user or video enthusiast. For those of you that have a PPC Mac, don't worry. The Ultra works great with PPC MACs, 2.0 dual core or better, Leopard 10.5.7. The editing software that comes with the Ultra automatically transfers to your MAC when you import your first video. After I imported my first video, I then used iMovie to do most of my editing (both iMovie HD 6 and i Movie 08 work well). I'm very happy with the Ultra and would recommend it to anyone that wants a pocket camcorder and you can't beat the price and quality of the Ultra...it's the right fit...a pocket camcorder you can live with. One last note, online technical support for the Ultra is GREAT...got a helpful email answer back every time within 24-72 hours.

Remember what you are buying here... a small portable and inexpensive video camera. For the size and price of this unit I was very impressed. If you are looking for zoom lenses, extensive menu options and high quality mics, etc. you should be looking to spend $700+ (or much more!). For a unit that fits in your pocket the video quality is amazing. Set up is a snap and the on board software is great. If you are able to turn on your computer you will be able to use the software to watch and edit videos. Perfect for family outings, sport events, or just to always have in the car for "I wish I had a camera" moments.

This is an incredible camcorder. I've had it since August 2009 when I got it for my birthday, and it's still good as new in January 2010. I use it for everything!Whether it's taking videos of my dog or birds around the house, or going to a concert, it is simply amazing. I went to see Taylor Swift this past summer of 09, in the first few days of having the camcorder, and the sound wasn't even distorted the slightest bit. I also use it for recording myself playing guitar and singing, and the sound is crystal clear! I was pleasantly surprised. The only slight flaw I'm able to point out is the zoom, for it zooms in a noticeable amount, but its not terribly far. I knew this, though, when I bought the camera.I would DEFINITELY reccomend this camcorder. Trust me, it really is excellent.

A few weeks ago my husband mentioned he would really like a flip for Christmas. I decided to surprise him with it on our anniversary at the beginning of Nov. and we have used it non stop since! We have 3 boys, ranging in age from 3-8 yrs old, so you can imagine the potential for daily usage! The picture quality is amazing and the best part I have found is the ease of use. Even our youngest son has taken videos that turned out adorable! This product is very user friendly and the results are amazing. it's easy to upload the videos to the computer and the web. It's compact size makes it easy enough to take with us on family field trips to the museum or park. My husband has also been able to use the software to do frame by frames so we can have stills of really cute kid moments! Considering the great quality, ease of use, convenience, and low price this is a great buy for anyone looking to preserve memories!

I bought this camera because our family needed a digital one, and I must say I'm impressed. The camera is small and compact enough to carry around wherever, and the included wrist strap is a small, but much appreciated bonus. The picture quality is great, especially on sunny days, the color is really nice and vibrant, but it shoots well in the dark too. A 10 o' clock darkness looks more like 8:30 with this. And with the included 8 gigs of internal memory, you're not going to run out of space very often. The included rechargeable AA battery works great, and I charge it on my video game console often when not in use. The mic is decent as well, although you will pick up heavy wind sounds if it's windy. As a nice bonus, there are 7 buttons, volume up, volume down, video left, video right, play/pause [for playback], trash, and record. The record button is the classic big red one, so you just press it to start, and press it to stop. It's so simple my mother can do it, and that's saying a lot. The camera looks pretty cool as well, (I'm a big fan of black) but one small thing is that the edges are chrome, and you'll be wiping fingerprints off it all the time. And one of my favorite things, it fits in your pocket! Now the not-so-great stuff. First and foremost, the camera is HDMI compatible, which means it can be connected to an HDTV, but the cable is not included. I just became aware that another "version" of the camera has this included, but without features like rechargeable battery, which is pretty lame. A big complaint I have is that there's no optical zoom. I'm not going to go too in depth, but all you need to know is that digital zoom is no good, optical zoom is the way to go. And to top it off, the digital zoom is only X2, so don't zoom in on stuff far away, or even close for that matter. One small complaint I have is the battery life indicator. Even if the camera is fully charged, it will display the battery as "low" and will update to the actual amount in as long as 5 minutes. The included USB-out thing in the side is very ninja, but is kind of short, so unless you have a laptop (or even if you do) you might want to get a USB to USB cable that is compatible. When fully drained, the battery can take as long as 7 hours to recharge, which can be a real pain when it comes in the mail, so it is a good idea to charge it often, or you may want to invest in the AC adapter, which is, of course, sold separately. Always keep in mind when shooting, that there is no image stabilization, so don't shot while running and practice holding the camera real steady. Additionally, the screen isin't scratch-prone, but it isin't scratch proof either, you might want to invest in a screen protector. This camera for the majority of the time is reliable, but I had it freeze on me one time. If that happens, you'll have to remove the batteries and put them back in, just be wary of thatThe camera requires [included] software called flipshare that you need to save the video files to your computer. It works just fine, it even has some features such as image capture so you can save a frame from a video like a picture. The camcorder itself doesn't have a camera mode, so this is helpful, even though the picture quality isin't close to what you would get from a dedicated digital camera. Keep in mind that if you are going to edit your videos (which you should) to use video editing software compatible with HD.If you are going to upload any of your videos to youtube (which you probably will) make sure you use HD compatible editing software and make the settings for HD files, so that youtube will recognize it and add an HD option instead of lousy HQ.In conclusion, the Flip Ultra HD, despite some drawbacks, is an excellent, affordable camera that will not disappoint ANYONE, and although you might find other really good flip cameras, you certainly can't go wrong with the Flip Ultra HD

The Flip HD is our 2nd Flip we have owned. We had a friend offer to buy our Flip Ultra so we upgraded. Its a very simple camera, but the picture/sound quality is great. We dont use the software that came with it. Its too bulky for me. I just pull the video file off the flip like you would off your digital camera. I then upload to my favorite photo/video sharing site (flickr) from there I can send a link or post to my blog. No need to actually email the rather large HD video files around.

I liked the size and the fact that there is no tape, HOWEVER if you are looking to create DVD's with this, forget it! To create a DVD you need advanced computer skills to use software converters and encoders, and needless to say LOTS of time. Flip says they'll do it for you...for $19.99/DVD. If they developed software to easily create a DVD, I would purchase it from them. I'm thinking of selling this camera.

The main reason I bought this camera is to shoot short video clips and upload them to a website or video sharing internet site such as YouTube. I have found it very easy to use and much more likely to use than my camcorder that requires fairly complicated software and takes so much time to finish editing! I can carry this in my pocket, shoot short video clips and get it done in a short period of time. For the quality of video image I shoot I don't need it to be perfectly still and can hold it fairly steady with out a tripod. If you are recording someone teaching or discussing something then an external mic would be big benefit because background noise might be a problem.
