Non expandable means you CANNOT add speakers at a later date.The EX version (expandable) allows you to add speakers.The SoundStation2 base has VERY GOOD volume. But, had I known what non expandable meant (I was looking at the lower cost), I would have purchased the expandable version. Especially when there is a large group of people and a very long table in the room.Hope that helps you when you make your purchase!

Phone work perfectly right out of the box and the performance was good. One issue is that it would not work with the phone system in place and had to be connected to a phone line that did not go through the switchboard

The Soundstation2 has worked well. The setup of the phone was very simple, and the setup menu was very intuitive.I recommend this conference phone.
