Bought this on sale and love it! Easy to set up, great reception and the extra phone came in really handy for our basement. I have had this system for 6 months and have had no problems at all. Buy it, you'll love it!

I have 2 old Uniden cordless phones from about 20 years ago and 10 years ago, both of which are still working perfectly. So when I moved into a new house that has 3 stories and was looking for a system that was expandable, I knew Uniden was the one to get. Before purchasing the phones I thought they were a little expensive, but now that I have it they were well worth it. The system is overall well designed, you can copy the phonebooks from one handset to another. The range is excellent, my driveway is about 700 feet and I can go all the way down and there is no static or anything. The clarity is also excellent, you cant even tell you are on a cordless phone. It is great to have the speaker phone on each handset, and it is actually loud enough to hear it. The intercom is fabulous, no more yelling, and even better you can change the names of the handsets, for example, you can make it say "Office" #2 instead of "Handset" #2 so you can tell which one you are intercoming. The instruction manual is very good, the one that it comes with in the box will give you the information that you need to use the phones, then on the internet you can get all the information you would need about the phone to take advantage of all its features. The battery life is also excellent. I didnt think that it would really last 7 days, so I tried it and it does! I have a lot of wireless technology around my house, and with these phones there is no more interference. The base is so small and the charging cradles are also very small, and you dont need to plug every phone cradle into a phone jack, so there are a lot more places that you can place them. Another nice thing is that there are no antennas on the phones, my old one had a 4 foot antenna on the base, the range was great, but these new ones are even better. You can also retrieve and set up the answering system from each individual handset, so I no longer have to go to the base to check the messages. And you can even do it remotely from another telephone. I also like the variety of ringers on the phones, especially that it has Merry Christmas, but the songs are a little hard to hear, the regular tones are a lot louder. I would absolutely recommend these phones to anyone who has a large yard or house, or who just wants good phones.

Hi. After owning these phones for about 6 months now, I have decided that I have enough information to write the review. First thing I would like to meantion is that I have found very few issues with this system. I bought this to replace my practically vintage 900 MHz Uniden cordless phone that is very large, bulky, and has very few features, however considering it's age it's actually a great phone. These new phones unfortunately are not the replacement phone that I am looking for, I use them along with my old one because these have no headset jack or belt clip! What's with that? I looked at other phones the next time I was at the store to see if they had them, but very few actually did. I didn't even think to check if they had them because I thought that had become a pretty standard feature, but I guess not. I probably wouldn't have purchased them if I knew they didn't have it, but now that I had them and used them, I liked them so much that I figured I will just use my old one for the headset. One main reason that I like these phones over other models is that they have a good feel, weight, the back of the handset has a comfortable to hold shape, and the earpiece is somewhat rounded. I don't like phones that are thin and not comfortable like cell phones. This us exactly what I wanted, the best technology with a good feel. The second thing that I should meantion is that the find handset button is not very helpful for doing anything but annoying other people in the house. When you press it, every handset beeps, including the ones on the cradles, making it almost impossible to find one of them. It should be that only the handsets off the cradles beep as those are the only ones that could be missing. I am one to put the phone down where ever I am, rarely do my phones go on the cradles after I use them, so I use the find button often. You are better off either waiting until it gets dark out, turning the lights off and looking for a blinking light, or use the intercom and place the handset you used to initiate the intercom in a clothset or cabinet. Other minor things to meantion are that the dialing is somewhat slower then on other phones I've used, the tones are long and there is space between them, but that doesn't really matter to me. Another thing is that the screen is only plastic, and it is not set back at all in the phone, so if someone were to drop it and the screen was facing down, it would almost be a guaranteed scratch on it, but again that doesn't bother me at all because I have never dropped one yet and I always place the phone upright, not with the screen down, so again that's a minor thing that doesn't bother me. Now for the good stuff. These phones have exceeded my expectations in range, features, sound quality and much more. I live on a large property and have a small pond in the front of my house, probably about 250 feet away from my house and the pond itself being about 300 feet. I have a bench about three quarters down the pond where I like to sit and talk on the phone. My old phone will go there, but with some quiet static. I wanted these phones to do the same, just a little better. I was worried because they had no antennas, but I was wrong. They not only go to the bench, but all the way across the pond and down the street. I acidentally took it with me once when I was walking down my street with my dog, and about 5 houses down (which was probably close to if not more then 1500 feet from the base)my pocket started to ring. I figured that I just pressed the ringer volume adjustment as I often do when it's in my back pocket so I just took it out and pushed the "end" button without even looking at it and put it back. Being further now, probably 2000 feet it rings again, and this time I just ignored it because I knew it would stop in a few second and I like the ring song it was playing. Then it started beeping and it was driving me crazy , I thought it was saying that I was out of range but it was the thing telling me that I had a new voicemail. So I presse the voicemail button and it came in great, no static or anything. So I decided that I would try to make a call, same great clear reception. I have never taken the phone far enough to get an out of range signal, the only time I got that was during a power failure. The other thing that I really like is the overall design of the phones. The base is so small in size but such a big performer. Also the charging cradles are so small they can be placed virtually anywhere. The shape of the handset it also great, that the bottom of it is flat so it can be placed upright thus saving the screen and finish of the rest of the phone. I have a phone that is a funny shape that doesn't go upright, and because I use it so much it is almost embarrassing how scratched the back of it had become. I haven't the slightest idea what they were thinking when they made they phone. I did check in the store to make sure that the phones stood upright. The handset has a nice shape on the back that is very comfortable to hold, but thin enough to put in a pocket. The design of the buttons is great. The ink is printed underneath the plastic so it won't wear off, which is a good thing because I use those buttons so many times each day (I work from home). The handset is comfortable to hold, however there isn't much of an earpiece to speak of, but it's one if the best ones I've seen on a DECT phone. I like the features of this phone. It's simple enough to use for someone who has never seen it, but still customizable for a power-user like me. I love the intercom, no more yelling. Also it is possible to change the banners on the phones so it doesn't say something meaningless like Handset 1, instead it can say Kitchen 1, so you know where to intercom. The variety of ringer tones is great. The songs however are a little quieter then the regular patterns, but I like the Merry Christmas song on there for the Christmas season regardless even though it is a little quiet. The base ringer is nice and loud though. It's heard throughout the house and in the yard close to the house if it's on 3, (the highest setting). The answering machine works great. I like the toll-saver setting. I think that's a great idea. It rings four times, but if you have a new message, it only rings twice. The answering machine can be accessed using any handset or from a different house or cell phone using the security code, which would be great if you go away a lot for a while, but I don't that often, so I probably only use this feature once a month or so if I am expecting a call and am not home for whatever reason. The preset greeting is nice, I use it and it sounds very much like a regular person, not like some creepy computer like my other phone did, it wasn't a Uniden. The caller ID, phonebook, and redial are great to have. I only had 1 redial and 10 memories on my old phone, which you couldn't even really know what they were unless you remembered. The phone book is so coviniet when calling a resturaunt, company, or other place in which you don't know the number, just type in the first letter in the phone book search and press the talk button. How easy. The caller identification also saves me a lot of time and annoyance. I have been using these phones for about 6 months now and was thinking that the caller ID log was useless because when you pressed the talk button to call back it only would dial the 7 digit number, which is not enough anymore. Just last night I discovered that if you press the star key it adds a 1 to the number, and the pound key adds 203, so now the call back feature is completely useful. I kind of thought that they couldn't possible design something so poorly, and they didn't. This phone really is full of great features. The speaker phone is loud and clear, I can hear the other party and they can hear me, even if I'm acros the room, and I don't like to talk loud on the phone, so that's a good thing. The only thing I wish was a little better was that you could hear your own voice in the phone a little louder as I often find myself yelling at the phone because I figure that if I can't hear myself, then the other person can't either, as my other phone had my voice really loud. I guess I am getting used to not hearing myself anymore, and this probably wouldn't effect a lot of people, but I figured that I should meantion it anyway. The backlighting in the phone is great, I can talk on the phone at night outside and see it just fine. It's also been a good flashlight at night to get me to the bathoom without walking into stuff. However it is important to note that only the screen and the 12 numerical keys are lit, not anything else, which really for me isn't really a big deal because I know the other buttons are because I use it so much. Overall I think these phones are great, and everything that I have mentioned about these phones that is not good are all minor problems, so I think that 5 stars seems to be what it deserves as these are in my opinion excellent phones. Hope this helped!

Recently purchased the Uniden DECT 1580-4 cordless phone to replace a Panasonic KX-TG9334T system. Owned the Panasonic phones for less than a year and had nothing but problems. In my opinion, the Panasonic phones are a piece of junk. Even though we have only owned the Uniden a short period of time, my wife and I love it. Comfortable, user friendly, clear reception, and excellent built quality. Very pleased with this phone. Highly recommend it.

Over all this phone is fair and does exactly what it is supposed to. There is no longer WiFi interference when I am on the phone. But these phones replaced Uniden 5.8GHz that we had and it is lacking some important features!! For example only the number pad lights up!! If you are in the dark and don't have all the buttons memorized such as 'mute', 'pause', 'menu', 'talk/flash', 'end', 'speaker', 'clear' and 'menu' you will not be able to use the phone! This is half of the phone's buttons!! I really don't think illuminating the entire phone would break the price point!! If you use the phone in the dark or poor lighting it is not a good phone. Another function taken away from our 5.8 was the alphabetical caller id search!! We used this functional all the time. The old phone we just needed to press the number that had the letter of the name we were looking for then we could step through all like names. Now we have to thumb through all the saved numbers... again this should not break the price point!! And lastly remote answering machine function was taken away was the ability to skip through the introduction portion by simply pressing the 'play' button. Now we have to wait for the intro to stop before hearing the message.I guess this would a be good phone if we did not replace it with the Uniden 5.8GHz model. But since the old phone had much better creature comfort options I would not recommend this phone. It is truly lacking very simple features. But if what I listed above does not bother you then this is the phone for you. Best of luck to all.

The handsets were easy to set up[...]. Best things about the unit: lightweight compact style & design; ease of programmable features; copy all phone book entries to other units; " find " feature if you lose / forget where one unit is. Would like to try the units outside & test the standby battery time. Works great & would recommend to others

I am always nervous about getting phones because I am picky about sound but these are great. They work great and sound great.Very simple to use,I am not happy about the phone book (saved phone numbers) but it doesn't change my rating because I don't see it as a major flaw at all. The phone system this one replaced had to have each phone number entered by hand to each handset (big pain). This one has a copy and send feature to the other handsets. Only issue is it doesn't recognize a change of a persons phone number...(I entered it wrong originally and didn't know till I tried to call them). So I changed the phone number with the handset I was holding and sent it to the other phones. However, the other phones now had 2 names/numbers for that person...(1 wrong,1correct). It assumes it as different identity doesn't see it as a "change". Easy fix just have to delete the one that is bad on each of the phones.... NOT that bad to do but after enjoying the convenience of copy and send I want it all!

This Uniden DEC6.0 phone system worked well for about 1 year, then slowly started to become very unreliable. After about 1 1/2 years of service most of the handsets started to drop calls and loose transmit and receive audio for several seconds. After about 2 years one handset failed completely and the intermittent audio problems became worse so that almost every call would have extended audio drop-outs.This was our second Uniden wireless phone system and the first one required the expensive rechargeable batteries to be replaced after only 1 year. These phones lasted about 2 years until they became intermittent and unreliable. The common theme with Uniden phones (and probably other brands) is they are designed to be manufactured cheaply but not not designed for longevity. This planned obsolescence is a marketing plan to sell more phones. We just bought an AT&T DECT6.0 phone system because the reviews were better than Uniden and Panasonic.

The phone certainly serves it's purpose. I've had the phone for several phones for several months with no major issues. My biggest gripe would be the lack of a speakerphone option on the answering machine and sometimes menu navigation is so intuitive. Otherwise, sound quality is good and with 4 handsets, a good deal for the price.

I just received and set up my phones a week or so ago. The clairty is great, especially when compared to the old frequency phone it replaced. They were nice but always had a little to a lot of static (same brand). These are perfect because I have only a couple of phone jacks but several rooms- I now have one in each bedroom and in the living room. It has cool features- like distinctive rings- so you know who is calling before looking at the caller ID. You can program names and numbers into the phone, etc... Many common cell phone features. Which brings me to another plus, they are light weight and slender- which gives a more similar feel to using your cell. The old phones were bulky and felt heavy after using a cell all day.I haven't fully tested the range but the lack of interference and static so far makes it good for most homes.
